At Christmas we remember the birth of Jezus Christ, the Redeemer, into a human body. A Swedish zen-coach rewrote the Lord Prayer which I changed a little bit so that it fits me. The prayer is addressed to the Redeemer. I am comfortable with this word because of my catholic background. You can change it into God, Allah, Love, Higher Self, Spirit, whatever you feel comfortable with.

I wish you a radiant Christmas and an inspiring 2009.

A prayer.

Redeemer of the radiant power and beauty in every human being,

will you assist me on my path, so that

- I ease the resistance in my being

- I shape a room in my filled with the presence of freedom

- I fill myself with creativity, so that I gain the strength to bear the fruits of my intentions

- I unravel the entangled threads of destiny which keep me from resting in the now

- I free myself from the chains of past mistakes and also support others in doing so

- I let myself not be seduced by what seperates me from my true nature

Redeemer, will you make clear to me the potential which lies within the nature of the now. Within the depths of me lies, from birth, a fruitbearing knowing that has the power to manifest. I choose to serve life with that knowing.

On October 8th I presented my book Growing up in Trust in London. It was a lively gathering in the house of one of my brothers. For a number of the guests Nonviolent Communication, and certainly the impact of rewards and punishment on our lives, was totally new. I received enthusiastic reactions, questions and, what touched me most, very personal stories about people’s own upbringing and how they raised their children. They made clear to me that they saw my approach as valuable, even as a necessity, in the world we live in now.

From October 29 to November 2 I was in Ängsbacka in Sweden for a Zen-Coaching Forum with 40 zen-coaches. I contributed as a trainer to a session about needs and used the GROK game in the process. I was Kare Landfald’s co-trainer in a session on shame while using the NVC Dance Floors. I enjoyed the merging of NVC and Zen-Coaching. They both became richer for me.

The Forum inspired me to live even more in acceptation of myself. I experienced in my body how much energy that gives me.

One of the questions that traveled with me to the forum was: how much may/can a zen-coach be directive? I discoverd that you are directive or guiding, when you come with solutions and ideas uninvitedly. And that you are non-directive or following, when your focus is on where the client is right now and ask questions that that fit exactly in that space. This is like dancing on a cord and asks for a practiced alertness. A challenge I feel really comfortable with.

During the last couple of months my website has got a completely new appearance and structure. I am grateful towards Jack Tummers who took the challenge to transform my sometimes vague wishes into clarity.

I have gone from one (Nonviolent Communication) to three main items in my work: Nonviolent Communication, Zen-Coaching and Publications.

For the moment this is the only text that is available in English. Jack and I are focusing on the completion of the Dutch version right now. We expect that towards the end of October we will put more and more English texts on the site. So will you, please, have some patience.

• In cooperation with Anne Mijke van Harten from Earthgames I published GROK in Dutch, a game that gives words to feelings and needs. The game was originally launched in the US by Jean Morrison and Christine King. We added games and NVC information, and all feelings and needs cards have a picture that suits the word. You can see what the box looks like under Publicaties on this site.

• In January 2009 I will start a TRAINING for NVC COACHES.

• I celebrate that in September 2008 the fourth edition of my book Opgroeien in Vertrouwen (’Growing up in Trust’, published in June 2008 by O-Books) and the third edition of De Giraf en de Jakhals in Ons (’The Giraffe and the Jackal in Us’, not yet published) were published in Dutch.

• From 6th to 10th October I will be in London for the promotion of my book Growing up in Trust.
